  1. What is chiropractic? According to the American Chiropractic Association, “Chiropractic is a health care profession that focuses on disorders of the musculoskeletal system and the nervous system, and the effects of these disorders on general health.”
    Specifically, chiropractic examines the overall function of the body. The body’s skeletal, muscular, neural and vascular systems are examined and then optimized (treated) using physical medicine (hands-on or mechanical means) to treat patients. Most chiropractors are also schooled in nutrition and therapy, incorporating therapeutic modalities, nutritional counseling, and diet supplements in their patient’s care.

  2. What are Dr. Robin’s credentials? James A. Robin, D.C. received his undergrad education in Austin, TX, studying at both the University of Texas and at ACC. Dr. Robin completed his degree in Chiropractic medicine at the Texas Chiropractic College in 1991. Dr. Robin is certified to practice chiropractic and to apply therapeutic modalities in both Texas and Colorado. While at TCC, Dr. Robin was honored in receiving two prestigious awards of recognition, the Keeler Honor Award and Recognition of Outstanding Clinical Internship. Dr. Robin has represented the city of Round Rock, TX on the Board of Partners of education, sat on the Travis County Drug and Gang Enforcement Committee, participated in the Wells Branch Elementary Steering Committee, organized and directed several local 5k’s benefiting children’s causes and completed various Red Cross certifications. Dr. Robin’s hobbies include rock climbing, jogging, hiking, kayaking, biking and dogs. He loves his dogs, Tiberius and Ramses, two fawn colored Doberman pinchers. His two previous Dobermans were Osiris and Horus.

  3. What chiropractic techniques does Dr. Robin utilize? Dr. Robin utilizes several techniques, the primary being Diversified. Diversified is the main technique taught in the Texas Chiropractic College and the most common technique utilized in the chiropractic profession. Dr. Robin also incorporates soft tissue, myofascial release, massage, and activator techniques. Stretching, exercise and therapeutic devices are also incorporated into the patient’s care regimen.
    Diversified Technique is the classic chiropractic technique, developed by D.D. Palmer, DC. Diversified Technique was refined and developed by the late Otto Reinert, DC, to address biomechanical failure in each section of the spine, as it relates to specific subluxation. The focus is on restoration to normal biomechanical function, and correction of subluxation. In addition, Diversified methods have been developed to adjust extremity joints, allowing for beneficial applications in treating sports injuries and other injuries. Diversified adjusting of the spine uses specific lines of drives for all manual thrusts, allowing for specificity in correcting mechanical distortions of the spine.

  4. What will my 1st visit at Chiropractic Solutions be like? Your first visit to Chiropractic Solutions will include providing vital information, completing symptom and patient history forms, a consultation with Dr. Robin per the reason for your visit, examination, report of findings and your treatment.
    As a new patient entering Chiropractic Solutions, you will first be greeted by and meet the front desk staff. Necessary paper work is completed at this time. The most time consuming paper work is available on this website by clicking the button labeled “New Patient Forms”, printing the questions provided and filling in those questions with a black or blue pen. Presenting those completed questions to the front desk at the time of your appointment will save you 15 minutes. You will then meet with Dr. Robin, discussing the reason for your visit and participating in a full consultation regarding your condition. If you choose and if care in our office is appropriate, you will then receive an appropriate exam. Exam findings will then be discussed, followed by treatment rationale. With the treatment plan being acceptable to you and consistent with the reason for your visit, your care will start immediately.
    Dr. Robin’s philosophy of care is such that the patient and doctor work together, within parameters set by and allowing for work, home and recreational responsibilities towards a goal as set by you, the patient.

  5. How much time will my 1st visit at Chiropractic Solutions require? Your first visit at Chiropractic Solutions will require approximately 45 minutes to one hour. Subsequent visits will require approximately 30 to 45 minutes.



  6. Is massage, myofascial release and/or deep tissue technique utilized at Chiropractic Solutions? Yes. Dr. Robin feels strongly in the importance of these techniques and utilized them with the majority of his patients. Chiropractic is the care and treatment of the musculoskeletal system. It is difficult to imagine treating one without the other, the skeleton, the muscles and soft tissues that bind them.

  7. Are nutritional supplements utilized at Chiropractic Solutions? Yes, Dr. Robin utilizes and encourages nutritional supplements when appropriate to the patient. Nutrition was a main component in Dr. Robin’s education and a main component of his practice. Educating the patient in their personal nutritional needs is a priority in Dr. Robin’s practice.

  8. Is nutritional counseling available at Chiropractic Solutions? Yes, when appropriate Dr. Robin will evaluate and counsel patients in diet choice and regimen, particular to the patient’s needs and goals.

  9. Are cash paying patients accepted at Chiropractic Solutions? Yes. Our care is affordably priced and effective. A large number of our patients depend on cash, without the benefit of insurance. These patients especially appreciate Dr. Robin’s philosophy of patient education and participation in care. Patients at Chiropractic Solutions are educated in nutrition, exercise and stretching for the purpose of leading healthier lives, independent of health care or restrictive aches and pains. By working as a team, Dr. Robin and the patient work towards and accomplish the patient’s goals, be they recreation, work or home related.

  10. Are health insurance plans accepted at Chiropractic Solutions? Yes, personal and group health insurance plans are accepted at Chiropractic Solutions. In fact, Dr. Robin is a preferred provider for most insurance plans utilized in the greater Austin area. All health plans are subject to their specific Explanations Of Benefits. Dr. Robin is contracted with most major medical plans and all co-pays are due at the time of service, as dictated by those individual plans.

  11. Is Medicare or Medicaid accepted at Chiropractic Solutions? Yes, Medicare is accepted at Chiropractic Solutions. Dr. Robin is classified as a non-participating Medicare provider. As such, Medicare reimburses a percentage of care provided in Chiropractic Solutions by sending reimbursement checks directly to the Medicare patient.
    Medicaid is not accepted at Chiropractic Solutions at this time.

  12. Are C.H.I.P. (Children’s Health Insurance Program) benefits accepted at Chiropractic Solutions? Yes.

  13. Sports injuries are common in today’s health conscious environment. Are they treated at Chiropractic Solutions? Yes. Sports related injuries are among the most common treated at Chiropractic Solutions. Some sports injuries occur suddenly while some appear over time. Appropriate treatment is needed to heal from these injuries, as is education in preventative and stabilizing stretches and in exercise in order to excel at the preferred sport, free of further injury.

  14. Can pregnant ladies benefit from Chiropractic care? Yes. Chiropractic is very important during pregnancy. Low back, mid and upper back pain often accompany pregnancy and drugs are avoided. Chiropractic, being a non-drug therapy is the logical choice for expecting mothers, making the pregnancy experience less stressful for the mother and the baby. Educating the mother in self massage and positional awareness are also very important to the mother and the baby.

  15. Are menstrual cramps treated at Chiropractic Solutions? Menstrual cramps are a common complaint in Chiropractic Solutions. Chiropractic via adjustment and nutritional support acts to reduce these cramps as well as other symptoms secondary to menstrual cramping.
